Three People, One Decade

Project Description-
You and two other people will choose a time period between World War I and the present. Your group will create an autobiography of three people during that time period to tell the history of that decade through the eyes of the people who lived through it.

Forming Groups-
Your group can be made up of people from any world history class during the same period.  For instance, if you are in Ms. Lee’s 2nd period class you may work with someone from Mr. Cadoppi’s 2nd period class.  The three autobiographies must be chosen from the following categories Arts and Literature, Political Figures, and Science and Technology.

Project Requirements-

Visual Requirements

  1. Scrapbook
  2. Poster
  3. Another Teacher Approved Display Project (Ms. Lee and Mr. Cadoppi have to both approve it)

Content requirements for the historical figure’s autobiography

  1. 5 primary sources with description such as a speech, letter, and/or work of art that describes how this person contributed to the time period and their chosen field.
  2. At least 5 photographs of the person with explanation, background
  3. 1 page biography that includes basic biographical information and is cited using MLA format. (typed, double spaced, 12 point font, no bullet points)
  4. 2 undocumented primary sources that YOU create yourself such as a long lost work of art that was recently found, a letter that was never published etc.

Scrapbook/Poster requirements

  1. Introduction to the decade written by everyone in the group
  2. Conclusion that describes how each person contributed to the decade
  3. Timeline of major events of the decade that include the major events of your historical figures

Benchmarks-

  1. May 7th a half page on who you want to be and why and which decade you think this person represents is due
  2. May 12 we will be in the library but will NOT have use of computers. By this date you should have your groups chosen, decade chosen, and historical figure chosen. GET SIGNED OFF BY THE END OF THE DAY!
  3. May?? A list of important events from your historical figure’s life that you want to include in your group’s timeline
  4. May 23 you should have general information on your historical figure and have written your biography.  You should have a draft of your 2 self created primary sources.
  5. May ?? your group should have a draft of how the poster/scrapbook is organized and a draft of what it looks like
  6. May 27 and May 28 we will be in the library and have use of the books and computers.  By the end of these two days you should have found your 5 primary sources and written a description of them that shows how they contributed to the time period and their chosen field.
  7. May ?? Your group should have the introduction and conclusion written and be ready to assemble the scrapbook/poster
  8. June 2 the final project is due
