Welcome to the College & Career Center (CCC)!

The CCC utilizes a google classroom (class code: 4p7mnkc). All the information below can be accessed using Google classroom. Students are encouraged to check the Google classroom weekly!

This is an informational resource center that provides students with the following:

  • Support with the college search and application process
  • Scholarship research and application
  • Financial Aid Support
  • Job & Volunteer opportunities, Work Permits
  • Trade Program Information
  • Military Brochures
  • The College & Career Center hosts guest speakers from different two and four year Colleges/Universities along with Trade/Vocational programs (usually during flex/lunch) so that students can hear what is available to them first hand.
  • College tours (geared towards 11th, 12th graders)
  • Students may visit the CCC during brunch, lunch and by making appointments for FlexTime

COLLEGE SEARCH ENGINES

  • California Colleges All TN students have an account. Sign in with the school email and password. Once signed in, hover over the College Tab and click on the College Search Tool. The official Terra Nova college application and search engine. Use this site to explore and compare colleges.  Your counselor can help you navigate this sometimes complicated process and even monitor your progress here. 
  • University of California (UC) Campuses & majors | UC Admissions  Explore the 9 UC campuses
  • California State University/Choosing a Campus | CSU  Explore 23 campuses from Humboldt to San Diego
  • Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) Through WUE, eligible students can choose from hundreds of undergraduate programs outside their home state, and pay no more than 150 percent of that institution’s resident tuition rate.

There are 116 community colleges in California. Below is information on 4 local schools.

 

PROMISE SCHOLAR PROGRAM

The Promise Scholars Program provides incoming first-time students who can commit to full-time study (enrolling in 12 units or more each semester) up to 3 full years of fee waivers, textbook assistance, transportation incentives and intensive counseling and academic support. Available at schools listed below.

FINANCIAL AID INFORMATION

FAFSA® Application - FAFSA ( Free Application for Federal Student Aid) opens up on October 1st 

Create an FSA ID Account - The Student and Parent/Guardian will need to create an FSA ID

(Federal Student Aid ID) before beginning the FAFSA Application.

Understand Financial Aid (FAFSA) - Learn about the different types of federal financial aid.

  • Grants are a form of financial aid that doesn’t have to be repaid
  • Loans - When you receive a student loan, you are borrowing money to attend a college or career school. You must repay the loan as well as interest that accrues.
  • Work Study - The Federal Work-Study Program allows you to earn money to pay for school by working part-time.

CA Dream Act Application - Completion of the California Dream Act Application is required to determine financial aid for California AB540 eligible students. Your application will be processed by the California Student Aid Commission. The CA Dream Act application opens up on October 1st.

Learn About the College Application Process

Work Permits

Follow these steps to obtain a work permit:

  • Work Permit Applications are available at the College and Career Center, room 209, in the CCC google classroom, under the Job Listings Tab and below.
  • Fill out the top section with your information. Do not forget to include a phone number and your social security number. 
  • The employer will fill out and sign the middle section
  • Then the student's parent/guardian will need to sign/date it.
  • Drop off at Room 209 or scan/take a picture of the work permit and email it to dspasic@jeffersonunion.net
  • Once the work permit is issued, it can be picked up in Room 209 or if requested will be scanned and sent back. It takes about 24/48 hours to issue the permit once application is received.
  • Student must sign work permit before submitting it to employer
